High Compression / Deep Breather / Low-Maintenance The LS2 V8 Engine has a 10.9:1 compression ratio for enhanced power and efficiency, plus a high-lift cam for deeper engine breathing. Electronic Throttle Control provides smooth, linear acceleration. The LS2 V8 has 30 percent better air intake than the fifth-generation Corvette engine, thanks to a 90mm throttle body and an 85mm mass airflow sensor, plus a low-restriction air cleaner. The high-flow intake manifold is manufactured out of a light, high-strength composite. While maintaining external dimensions similar to previous-generation small block V8s, the LS2 now displaces 6.0 liters, thanks to siamese cylinder bores with durable iron liners. Power is rated at 400 hp at 6000 rpm and 400 lb.-ft. of torque at 4400 rpm. This is more low-rev torque than the LS6 engine in the fifth-generation Z06. Yet no other sports car with this kind of power even comes close in fuel economy -- an estimated MPG18 city, 28 highway -- while incurring no federal gas-guzzler penalty.
